OnePager or WordPress?

A OnePager with everything on a single page, or a system you can update yourself? Answer five questions and you'll know in two minutes what fits you.

5 minute read, as of October 2026

In short

A OnePager is enough if your content rarely changes and your main goal is to be found and get calls. WordPress pays off as soon as you want to post news, offers or references yourself on a regular basis, or need several subpages.

What is a OnePager?

A OnePager is a website made up of exactly one long page. Instead of switching to subpages via a menu, you scroll through sections: who you are, what you offer, what customers say, how to reach you. The menu simply jumps to the right spot on the same page.

We build OnePagers in lean HTML or PHP, with no database and no plugins. That has three advantages: the page loads very fast, there's hardly anything that can break or get hacked, and running it is cheap. With us, a OnePager starts at €179.90 one-off, with hosting at €9.90 per month, each plus VAT.

What is a WordPress website?

WordPress is the most widely used website system in the world. The big difference from a OnePager: there's an admin area where you log in and change content yourself, without touching a single line of code. Creating new pages, editing text, swapping images, publishing posts: you can do all of it in your browser.

In return, WordPress needs more maintenance. The system itself, the theme and every plugin get regular updates, and those should actually be installed. That's why running it costs a bit more. With us, a WordPress website is €399.90 one-off, and running it is €39.90 per month with support and maintenance, or €14.90 without, each plus VAT.

Five questions that make the decision for you

  1. How often does the content on your site change? A small tweak every few months? Then a OnePager is enough, and we'll make the change for you. New offers, dates or projects every week? Then you'll want to do it yourself, and that points to WordPress.
  2. How many topics do you have? One service, one target group, one location: that fits perfectly on a single page. Five services that each need a detailed explanation need their own subpages.
  3. Do you want to be found on Google for lots of search terms? Every subpage can rank for its own topic. A OnePager focuses on just a few terms, usually your name, your service and your location.
  4. Are you planning a blog, a news section or a shop? Then there's hardly any way around a system like WordPress. You can even add a shop there later.
  5. How much do you value peace of mind? A OnePager runs for years with no maintenance effort. A system needs regular attention, either from you or from someone who takes care of it.

Typical cases

The tradeswoman who mainly wants the phone to ring is perfectly served by a OnePager: services, service area, a few photos of projects, phone number in big letters. The physiotherapy practice with a class schedule, team page and job ads is better off with WordPress, because something is always changing there. The same goes for the club with an events calendar and reports from the last tournament.

Founders often start with a OnePager and switch later as the business grows. That's a good path: you pay little at the start, you're online quickly, and you only invest more once you know what your customers are really looking for on your site.

What if neither fits?

There's a middle ground: simple multi-page sites in HTML or PHP, meaning several subpages without an admin area. That makes sense if you have several topics that rarely change. And there's the other way up, if neither a theme nor a site builder is enough for you and your site really needs to stand out. That's what our Premium is for.

If you're still not sure after these questions, that's normal. Tell us briefly what you have in mind, and we'll tell you honestly what we'd go for in your shoes. You'll find an overview of all packages on the pricing page, and the running costs in our guide How much does a website cost?
