With us, a small business website costs a one-off fee from €179.90 (OnePager) up to €599.90 (WordPress with shop), each plus VAT, plus a monthly fee for hosting and maintenance. Agencies quickly quote four-figure sums for something comparable. For mid-sized and larger companies with many pages, languages or integrations, we put together an individual fixed-price quote. Either way, what matters isn't just the starting price, but what the site costs you over the years.
Why prices vary so much
Search for "website cost" and you'll find everything: site builders for a few euros a month, freelancers for a few hundred euros and agencies writing five-figure quotes. That's not because someone is ripping you off. It's because "a website" can mean very different things: a digital business card, a site with twenty subpages, a shop connected to inventory management, or an application with customer accounts.
Then there's all the work you don't see. A design created specifically for you costs more than a bought theme with your logo on it. Copy someone writes for you costs more than copy you provide. And a site someone looks after once it's live costs more than one nobody takes care of, at least at first glance.
One-off costs
The one-off fee covers everything that happens before launch: consulting, setting up the site structure, design, technical build, adding the content and the groundwork for Google. With us, these are fixed prices, so you know where you stand upfront:
- OnePager: from €179.90 with our hosting, from €269.90 without. One page, everything on it, ideal for founders and small businesses.
- WordPress website: from €399.90 with hosting, from €499.90 without. Several subpages, and you manage the content yourself.
- WordPress with shop: from €599.90 with hosting, from €699.90 without. Products, categories, payment and shipping.
- Premium: from €799.90, built entirely by hand, with custom animations and effects.
All prices plus VAT. Why is the site cheaper with hosting? Because then we run it on our own server and skip the setup with a third-party provider. We pass those savings on to you.
Running costs
Many people underestimate that a website isn't finished once it's live. It needs a server, an SSL certificate for the encrypted connection, regular backups and, above all, updates. WordPress in particular relies on plugins, and each one can become a security hole if it isn't maintained.
With us, running a OnePager costs €9.90 per month. A WordPress website with support and maintenance is €39.90, or €14.90 without technical support. A shop with maintenance costs €49.90, or €19.90 without support. On top of that comes the domain with an email mailbox from €4.90 per month. Again, each plus VAT.
The costs nobody budgets for
A cheap start can get expensive if nobody is responsible later on. The typical items we keep running into in first conversations:
- Broken updates: A plugin is no longer maintained, the site shows errors, and whoever originally built it can't be reached anymore.
- Hacked sites: Outdated software is the most common way in. Fixing it usually costs more than a year of maintenance.
- Site builder lock-in: Anyone who wants to move often finds their content can only be taken along with a lot of effort, or not at all.
- Images without rights: A photo grabbed from Google search can trigger a legal warning letter that costs more than any website.
Where you can save and where you shouldn't
You can save on anything you're good at yourself. If you write your own copy and have good photos, the effort drops noticeably. Scope is another lever: many businesses don't need twenty subpages at the start, but one clear page that explains what they do and how to reach them. The site can always grow later.
What you shouldn't skimp on is the technology behind the scenes. A site that's hard to read on a phone, loads slowly or has no backups will end up costing you customers or nerves. And you should know who looks after the site once it's live. A dedicated contact person is worth more than a few euros saved at the start.
So what will your website cost?
That depends on what you have in mind. Many small businesses do just fine with a OnePager or a small WordPress site and end up with a one-off fee in the low three figures plus a manageable monthly fee. Mid-sized and larger companies often need more: multiple languages, editorial roles, integrations with inventory management or a CRM. For that, we work with systems like TYPO3, Shopware or custom development and give you a fixed-price quote upfront. You'll find all packages on our pricing page. If you're not sure what you need, read our guide OnePager or WordPress? or just ask us. We'll tell you openly what makes sense, even if it's the cheaper option.
